A recent update to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has officially reintroduced the long-requested Blueprint Swap feature, allowing players to apply any unlocked skin to their base weapons or weapon blueprints. The feature was originally included in the Season 1 update but was abruptly removed just days later, with no explanation from developer Treyarch Studios.
For nearly six months, fans have been urging Treyarch to bring the feature back, confused by its disappearance and lack of communication. Although its return was teased for the launch of Season 3 in April, it was ultimately absent once again. Now, with the launch of Season 4 on the horizon, the popular feature has finally made its comeback, much to the relief of the community.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Reinstates the Blueprint Swap Feature

On May 7, Treyarch Studios released a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which brought several stability improvements and bug fixes for both Multiplayer and Zombies modes. However, the standout addition was the return of the Blueprint Swap feature, enabling players to personalize any weapon or weapon blueprint with unlocked or purchased skins. For weapon blueprints, players can mix and match skins with other existing attachments, while base weapons can only have the full weapon skin applied, not individual attachment skins.

To customize their weapons, players can visit the “skins” tab in Black Ops 6‘s Gunsmith, where they can view their current skins and check which ones are available for change. Treyarch also clarified that some Mastercraft blueprints will retain their “built-in Mastercraft look,” preserving specific skin designs on the barrel and/or stock, even when different attachments are equipped.
In addition to the Black Ops 6 update, Call of Duty: Warzone also received a patch on May 7. Unfortunately, the update brought significant nerfs to popular weapons like the CR-56 AMAX Assault Rifle and the HDR Sniper Rifle, including a reduction in the AMAX’s headshot multiplier from 1.6x to 1.35x. The AK-74 also received a heavy nerf, while the Krig C saw an unexpected buff.
