Sony Unveils Limited Edition PS5 DualSense Controller Inspired by Death Stranding 2

Sony has officially unveiled a limited-edition PS5 DualSense controller themed around Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the upcoming title from Kojima Productions. This special controller will be available for a short time only and is set to launch alongside the game on June 26.

With Death Stranding nearing its sixth anniversary, fans have been eagerly awaiting more news about its sequel. Originally announced at The Game Awards 2022, Death Stranding 2‘s story was reworked by Hideo Kojima to reflect the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The game will see the return of familiar characters, while also introducing newcomers like Elle Fanning and Debra Wilson.

In a recent PlayStation Blog update, Sony shared details about the limited-edition controller, which will be available for pre-order starting May 22 at 10 AM ET in the U.S. and at 10 AM local time in select European regions. Designed in collaboration with Kojima, the controller features a bright orange touchpad bearing Drawbridge’s emblem and motto. It will retail for $84.99. Additionally, pre-orders for the Collector’s and Digital Deluxe Editions of Death Stranding 2 are open now, offering early access beginning June 24.

Death Stranding 2 Limited Edition PS5 DualSense Controller

Sony has announced that pre-orders for the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach limited edition PS5 DualSense controller will open on May 22 at 10 AM (ET) in the U.S. and 10 AM local time in several European countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. The controller is priced at $84.99 and will be released on June 26, 2025, to coincide with the game’s launch.

Although the game itself won’t be available until next month, it’s already drawing attention for its innovative gameplay updates. One standout feature allows players to skip boss battles without missing key story elements, making the game more accessible—especially for those who prefer a narrative-driven experience. While the option has sparked debate, many praise Kojima’s decision as a progressive step toward inclusivity in gaming.

Meanwhile, the Death Stranding universe is expanding beyond consoles. In April, it was confirmed that a live-action film adaptation is in the works, with Michael Sarnoski (A Quiet Place: Day One) tapped to write and direct. Acclaimed filmmakers Ari Aster (Midsommar) and Lars Knudsen (Hereditary) have joined as producers. Although no release date has been set, the success of recent video game adaptations has given fans high hopes for the project.
