In World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery Phase 8, players encounter a clever nod to Assassin’s Creed during the newly introduced Scarlet Enclave raid. At the start of the raid, players must leap into the Tyr’s Hand region to infiltrate the Scarlet Crusade’s stronghold. Typically, such a fall would inflict damage—but landing on a conveniently placed haystack completely negates it. This playful mechanic mirrors Assassin’s Creed’s signature “leap of faith,” where assassins safely dive from great heights into haystacks.
Season of Discovery continues to be Blizzard’s bold reimagining of Vanilla WoW, introducing new Rune Engravings, quests, and original content. Phase 8 is especially notable for featuring entirely new content never seen in the original game, with the Scarlet Enclave raid being a standout addition.
The Assassin’s Creed homage was highlighted by WoW content creator MrGM on Twitter, and fans of Ubisoft’s stealth-action franchise quickly recognized the familiar mechanic, adding a fun layer of inter-game nostalgia to the experience.
Assassin’s Creed-Inspired Haystack Found in WoW Classic Season of Discovery’s Scarlet Enclave

Haystacks are one of the most iconic features in Assassin’s Creed, serving as both a hiding spot and a safe landing zone for the “Leap of Faith” from great heights, allowing players to avoid fall damage. This mechanic has appeared in nearly every Assassin’s Creed game, except Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Interestingly, in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, the character Yasuke has a unique animation where he awkwardly falls out of a haystack, causing it to collapse.
As for World of Warcraft Classic, many players label the Scarlet Enclave raid in Season of Discovery as one of the toughest challenges in Vanilla WoW. Since its launch on April 10, many raid groups have managed to clear it. Still, the raid has tested players’ strategies due to high boss health and damage, intricate mechanics, and unfamiliar encounters.

Though Blizzard has not officially confirmed it, there are strong indications that WoW Classic’s Season of Discovery Phase 8 might be its final major update. While players can continue using their characters indefinitely, it remains uncertain what will happen once the Season of Discovery comes to a close.
