In the latest developer live stream, Genshin Impact showcased Mavuika, Citlali, and Lan Yan gameplay, plus Lantern Rite skins for Hu Tao and Xiangling. Version 5.3 won’t bring a zone to Natlan, but it’s expected to be one of the most content-packed Genshin Impact patches. In addition to Mavuika, Citlali, and Lan Yan, the Archon Quest will net players the Pyro Traveler. Version 5.3 will conclude Natlan’s main story, including a Story Quest for Mavuika and a Tribal Chronicle for Citlali.
In the second part of Version 5.3, Genshin Impact users can get 20 free Intertwined Wishes via login rewards and the in-game mail system during the Lantern Rite. They can also invite a free Liyue 4-Star character, including Lan Yan. In Version 5.3, the contentious Chronicled Wish from Version 4.5 will return with Liyue characters like Shenhe and Ganyu.
The battle and exploration gameplay of the new Genshin Impact characters was shown on the development live stream. Mavuika is a hypercarry, although the Pyro Archon may be used as an off-fielder like Raiden Shogun. Citlali, the game’s third 5-Star Shield Support, will shield the active character, deal off-field Cryo damage, and buff Pyro and Hydro damage by triggering Melt or Freeze reactions.

Version 5.3 will also introduce two new Genshin Impact character outfits for Xiangling and Hu Tao, who appeared on the Event Banners in Version 5.1. Version 5.3’s Event Banners feature Citlali and Mavuika in the first half and Arlecchino and Clorinde in the second. Lan Yan will appear with the two 5-star characters. This is the first time in Genshin Impact’s history that both new 5-Stars would debut in the first half, breaching a rule from Inazuma.
Although players could only see silhouettes, Iansan, Dahlia, Ifa, and Skirk were visible in the webcast. Genshin Impact devs teased Snezhnaya, but Nod-Krai and the seventh playable location of Teyvat will take longer. Version 5.3 launches on January 1, 2025.
