Helldivers 2 Dev Responds to Worries About the Game’s Future

Helldivers 2 Galactic emergency Update New Illuminate Enemy Faction Units Fleshmob

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani has addressed growing concerns about the future of Helldivers 2, reassuring fans that the studio remains fully committed to the hit co-op shooter. Jorjani emphasized that Helldivers 2 will continue to be the team’s primary focus “for a loooong time”—as long as the community remains engaged and continues supporting the game.

Speculation began to spread after Jorjani casually mentioned a new internal project, codenamed Game 6, prompting some fans to worry that Helldivers 2 might soon be abandoned. However, he was quick to clarify that the new project won’t interfere with ongoing support for Helldivers 2, which continues to receive regular content updates and patches.

Since its 2024 launch, Helldivers 2 has captivated players with its revamped third-person gameplay, a major shift from the top-down perspective of the original. Players take on the role of Helldivers defending the fictional Super Earth by fighting alien threats, capturing planets, and collecting high-powered gear. Thanks to frequent updates and strong community engagement, the game has seen steady evolution—but recent developer comments sparked anxiety among some fans.

Following the latest update, Jorjani joined the official Helldivers Discord server to engage directly with the community. While he confirmed that Arrowhead is exploring ideas for Game 6, he reiterated that this wouldn’t affect Helldivers 2‘s development. In fact, he stated plainly: as long as players continue participating and purchasing in-game currency like Super Credits, Arrowhead will keep supporting and expanding the game.

Helldivers 2 to Stay Arrowhead’s Primary Project for the Long Haul

Jorjani acknowledged that Helldivers 2 faced a challenging period last summer, with Arrowhead concerned about the game’s ability to sustain itself. Fortunately, the situation has improved significantly, and the game is now thriving once more. This positive turnaround has energized the development team, who are eager to deliver plenty of new and exciting content moving forward.

Although Helldivers 2 remains Arrowhead’s primary focus, Jorjani also shared some insights into the studio’s new project, Game 6. Unlike previous ventures, Game 6 will be entirely self-funded by Arrowhead. While details are still under wraps, the studio plans to adopt a much “smarter” development approach this time around, learning from the lengthy eight-year development cycle of Helldivers 2. Despite this new project, players can rest assured that Helldivers 2 continues to have a promising future ahead.
