Crunchyroll is releasing an exclusive new anime with an iconic brand.

To honor Anime Expo 2025, Crunchyroll News is collaborating with Japanese pop culture magazine Newtype for a unique edition. Since 1985, Newtype has dominated Japanese pop culture. Although the two anime giants have collaborated previously, Newtype’s 40th anniversary makes it extra intriguing.
Crunchyroll’s booths at Anime Expo 2025 and Anime NYC 2025 will exclusively distribute the free Crunchyroll News x Newtype magazine. The front cover has new work from the upcoming Shonen mega-hit Gachiakuta, while the back includes images from Black Butler -Emerald Witch Arc-.
In addition to the two anime series on the cover, the magazine will cover Solo Leveling, My Dress-Up Darling, and Kaiju No. 8. A double-sided poster featuring Gachiakuta and the upcoming Chinese anime To Be Hero X is teased on the cover.
Crunchyroll and Japanese Magazine Newtype Promote a Stunning Slate

Japanese Kadokawa publishes Newtype, known for its sharp columns. The magazine worked with Crunchyroll on Anime NYC 2024. Given Crunchyroll’s massive series, reviving the relationship for Anime Expo and Anime NYC in 2025 makes sense to publicize its new anime.
Gundam’s Newtypes are genetically modified to thrive in space.
Future Gachiakuta tops the page. Gachiakuta is being hailed as the new Attack on Titan due to its dark tale and expressive visuals.

Studio Bones, known for My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist, is directing the anime version of Kei Urana’s famous manga. The Crunchyroll News x Newtype cover features Rudo Surebec and Enjin, the series’ main protagonists.
Black Butler follows. After four seasons and a movie, Black Butler’s Emerald Witch storyline marks its big return. The anime is from Spy x Family and Bocchi the Rock! studio Cloverworks, which previously produced Public School Arc.
Crunchyroll’s Newtype Collaboration Is Unbeatable Flex.
