The Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025, running from July 15 at 10:00 AM to July 20 at 8:00 PM local time, introduces the Gen 9 Mimicry Pokémon Tatsugiri in three region-exclusive forms: Curly, Droopy, and Stretchy. Curly Form Tatsugiri appears in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa; Droopy Form is exclusive to the Americas; and Stretchy Form spawns in the Asia-Pacific region. These Dragon/Water-type Pokémon, resembling sushi, are available in one-star raids, allowing players to use Remote Raid Passes to access forms outside their region, a less restrictive approach than typical regional exclusives like Flabébé. The event also boosts wild spawns of Water-types like Squirtle, Slowpoke, Krabby, and Magikarp, with rare encounters including Feebas and Tirtouga. Shiny Staryu and Tirtouga have increased odds, and a scarf-wearing Lapras in three-star raids may feature a special seasonal background. Event bonuses include Rainy Lure Modules lasting two hours and extra Candy for Nice, Great, or Excellent throws, aiding evolutions like Sliggoo into Goodra.
Event Features and Strategies for Collectors
The Water Festival offers rich gameplay with event-themed Field Research tasks granting Mega Energy and encounters with Pokémon like Gyarados and scarf-wearing Lapras. A $4.99 Paid Timed Research ticket provides a Rainy Lure Module, an avatar pose, and exclusive encounters, while Collection Challenges reward XP, Stardust, and event-themed Pokémon. New avatar items, including Curly, Droopy, and Stretchy Tatsugiri Backpacks, are available in the in-game shop and remain post-event. One-star raids feature Shellder, Ducklett, and regional Tatsugiri forms, while three-star raids include Kingler, Gyarados, Azumarill, and Lapras. Players can maximize catches by using Rainy Lure Modules and focusing on raids for Tatsugiri, with Remote Raid Passes helping complete the Pokédex. Community feedback on X praises the event’s variety but notes the challenge of collecting all Tatsugiri forms without trading or travel. For updates, check pokemongo.com or join the Pokémon Go Discord, and ensure your app is updated to version 0.323.0 or later for full event access.
